Phosphatidylserine- The Magic Muscle protector? Can Phosphatidylserine spare your muscle whilst losing fat? by Jason Rickaby Phosphatidylserine- The Magic Muscle protector? Can Phosphatidylserine spare your muscle whilst losing fat? By Jason Rickaby- two-time author and Champion Natural Body builder. Lean Degree™ is not just a great weight-loss agent because of the powerful thermogenic triplet of Caffeine, Green Tea and L-Tyrosine, it contains a whole lot more besides. Lean Degree™ contains a seldom-used ingredient named Phosphatidylserine (PS), an ingredient that maybe exactly what those looking to shed all body fat, whilst maintaining muscle mass, have been searching for. The major reason most of us lose muscle whilst dieting maybe down to the production of cortisol. This can occur with over-dieting, too few calories, too much cardio, too little sleep, too much stress in life or a huge combination of all factors. When we stress out, cortisol is released and it’s very catabolic, stripping our bodies of muscle tissue. Let’s face it, when we’re dieting down to low levels of body fat, we are putting our body under lots of stress. The early morning training, the low-carb diets, the intense cardio, all go towards putting us into a catabolic state. Elevated cortisol levels have been associated with:
In theory, if we can find a product that in some way countered stress, cortisol may not be able to impart its devastating effects on our physique, we could then concentrate on losing body fat and not getting even more stressed out when we look in the mirror and see we’re dieting away hard-earned muscle mass. One comprehensive study compared response to an emotional stressor when using PS supplementation. The results showed a pronounced blunting of both serum and salivary cortisol, without affecting heart rate. (1) The placebo group showed expected increases in distress, yet the group supplementing with PS did not. A second study carried out at the University of Swansea was done to show related stress and mood reaction to using 300mg of PS daily. An improvement in mood and a reduced feeling of stress was shown to occur when using 300mg of PS daily (300 mg is the amount of PS in 3 daily servings of Lean Degree™). (2) A large percentage of the PhD athletes are using Lean Degree™ at the moment, I don’t believe it’s any coincidence that in 2006, those using Lean Degree look bigger, fuller and more muscular whilst dieting. Here’s how PhD World Champion Peter Chown is working Lean Degree™ into his supplement assault on the BNBF British crown in 2006. 7am- Wake up, 500ml water with 2 caps Lean Degree™, 1 cap Formula-X™ 7.30am- Meal 1. 10.00am- Meal 2 12pm- 2 caps Lean Degree™. 12.30pm- meal 3 with 1 cap Formula-X™ 3pm- Meal 4 4.30pm- PhD Wired™ 5pm- Train 6pm- 3 scoops PhD Pharma-Whey™, 3 scoops PhD Battery+/-3™ 7.30pm- Meal 6. 9.30pm- 1 cap PhD Formula-X™ 10.00pm- Meal 7 Bed
